Farm on the Ridge
Located in Jackson County. Farm on the Ridge breeds and raises heritage pasture-based pigs that are supplemented with Non-GMO feed. This further reduces the probability of unnatural or harmful chemical substances going directly in to the animals daily diet. The animals are bred and born on the premises in a closed, bio-secure environment. This allows the farmers to raise livestock without the use of antibiotics due to no disease risk from outside swine.

Snowville Creamery is an Ohio differentiated dairy processing company owned by Warren and Victoria Taylor that strives for continuous improvement producing outstanding dairy products from grass-grazed, sustainable dairy farms. Snowville Creamery is part of an integrated food economy with dairy farmers, feed and forage producers, distributors, and retailers. Our farmers and their suppliers are paid fair and stable prices so they can bring continuous improvement to their operations.
Snowville Creamery is proud to provide a line of milk and cultured products that come from grass-grazed cows. This grass-based diet gives our milk its exceptional flavor. Our process is unique and different from the vast majority of commercial dairies and creameries in that we do not homogenize and only lightly pasteurize our milk to create a healthy, rich and flavorful dairy product that can only be described as “Milk The Way It Used To Be.”

In 1809, Joseph Herrold built a mill on the banks of the Hocking River in Athens, Ohio. In 1912, the mill was purchased by the White family. Unfortunately, the mill burned to the ground in 1913. Edgar White then purchased the Nathaniel Vale Mill in nearby Dyesville in Meigs County. The timbers were marked and the mill was disassembled, put on barges that were pulled by oxen, and brought to Athens where it was reassembled and expanded ... and where it still stands today as White’s Mill. Along the way, the dam washed out, folks started buying store bought and change was needed.Mike Toomey bought the mill in the 1990s and proceeded to shift to more of a home, pet and garden retail center along with some local products. In 2016, he sold the business to long-time employees Rodney Dowler and Tyler Schloss. Dowler and Schloss continue to build upon Toomey’s business model.
The mill has been renovated and opened for retail and has grown into even more of a local treasure. Come see for yourself!

Whit's Frozen Custard
The first Whit's Frozen Custard opened on March 3, 2003, in Granville, Ohio, at the end of one of the region's coldest and snowiest winters in years. Granville did not know what frozen custard was and many felt it would not survive. However, there was a destiny to Whit's beginning and, against all odds, mother nature could not delay Whit's inevitable success.
As the years progressed, it has become even more of a family business with their son Henry helping as well as their daughter, Kaylyn, who has become an integral part of the business in helping open new store locations. You can even find on the menu an item named after their son, O'Henry George. Each location is family-owned and the presence of each of these families can be found at every Whit's location.
